What's Happening Around Campus

Congratulations to Emi Maeda ’25, who has been named Main Line Student of the Week! Emi is a current Montgomery County Youth Poet Laureate, partnering with libraries and non-profits to promote poetry, mental health and voter engagement, and planning public poetry events. She has performed at the West Park Arts Festival and Wawa Welcome America and is a National YoungArts winner in poetry as well. In addition, she is co-head of Baldwin’s Asian Student Association, a member of SDEI (Student Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) and Moot Court, serves as a tutor, is a committee member for Young Writers for Democratic Action and is a student council member for Philadelphia Japanese Language School. She is also a musician, playing the flute for Baldwin’s instrumental ensemble. Link in bio to read more!

Our youngest bears have been using the laser cutter to create the letters for the new ECC Dream Lab sign! After crafting their letters, they added their own creative touches. Today, the Upper School hosted its annual Building Bridges Day, a student-led conference focused on self-awareness, curiosity and empathy. This year’s theme, The Love of Learning Through Exploration, featured a keynote by Dr. Crystal Fleming ’00, followed by group activities and breakout sessions. Dr. Fleming also led a workshop for faculty on using love as a force for positive change.

A Baldwin grad, Dr. Fleming is a critical race sociologist, author/editor of four books, and an internationally recognized expert on racism and antiracism. She is a professor at Smith College and holds a Ph.D. and master’s degree in Sociology from Harvard University, in addition to graduating with honors in Sociology and French from Wellesley College. Thank you to Dr. Fleming, our student leaders and Director of DEI Carolyn Jones Berry '73 who planned all year to create a supportive and valuable experience!
